Structured data

Structured data is code that labels information on a page so search engines can understand what it describes.

What it means

For example, it can identify a recipe’s ingredients, a product’s price, or an article’s author. Websites commonly use the Schema.org vocabulary with JSON-LD code. Google supports some types for enhanced listings called rich results.

Example

A recipe page includes structured data for its cooking time and ingredients. Those details describe the recipe already visible to readers and may appear in a richer search listing.

Keep in mind

The markup should match the page’s visible content. Correct structured data makes a page eligible for supported features, but Google decides whether to display them.
