Indexing
Indexing is the process of analyzing a web page and storing information about it in a search engine’s database.
What it means
After crawling a page, a search engine works out what it contains and whether to include it in its index. That index supplies the pages considered when someone searches.
Example
You use Google Search Console’s URL Inspection tool to check whether a new service page is indexed and which URL Google has selected as canonical.
Keep in mind
Being indexed does not mean a page will rank highly. It means the page is available for consideration in relevant search results.
